Nicholas J Schmitt, MD
Dr Schmitt received his first undergraduate degree in music at the University of Miami. He then went on to pursue a second undergraduate degree in electrical engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. After an internship in internal medicine, Dr Schmitt completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Following his residency, Dr Schmitt completed a fellowship in Oculoplastic, Reconstructive, and Orbital Surgery under Randall L. Beatty, MD and John S. Kennerdell, MD at Drexel University College of Medicine – Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA .
Dr Schmitt joined Northwest Eye in 2005. Dr Schmitt specializes in Oculoplastic, Reconstructive, and Orbital Surgery. His interests include cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, lacrimal surgery, and the medical and surgical management of orbital disease (including thyroid eye disease and trauma). Dr Schmitt sees patients primarily in the Wayzata office location, but also travels to the Northwest Eye’s Maple Grove and Robbinsdale office locations.
